Monday Mindset: Release your worries

Have you ever come across the Serenity Prayer? It goes like this: “Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.”

Life presents us with challenges daily. Often, we find ourselves energetically stuck, worrying about things beyond our control:

My car needs a new transmission, but my checking account is short of funds.

My pet is sick and I need to go to the vet, but I have a very important work meeting coming up that I can’t miss.

My _________ (your worry here), but  I_________ (your other worry here).

So, where should we direct our energies for maximum productivity in managing fears and anxieties?

Let’s take a breath together. Focus your mind on the present moment. In that quiet space, ask yourself: What can I control? What is beyond my control?

Use this simple list template,, granting yourself permission to concentrate on what you can manage and to release what’s beyond your grasp.

Our minds can easily wander into the realm of uncontrollable worries, but we can take a moment to breathe and say, “I let go of  _______________(problem)  until I have the energy and resources to tackle the issue.”

And…maybe in that clarity, solutions to our worries come to light:

Maybe my buddy will loan out his spare car this weekend? Maybe my vet will keep Fluffyt for a day’s observation so I don’t miss the meeting?

Refocusing on what we have control over is a great practice to help build up skill sets around adaptivity, resiliency, patience, and releasing those anxiety driven mindsets that don’t serve us.

Remember our team at WEBB  is here for you.

Until next week….
